Une nouvelle pi\u00e8ce, jou\u00e9e au Market Theatre de Johannesburg, tente de dresser un portrait nuanc\u00e9 de cette figure majeure de la lutte anti-apartheid.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inspir\u00e9e du roman <em>The Cry of Winnie Mandela<\/em> de Njabulo Ndebele, l\u2019adaptation explore le destin de celles qui, comme elle, ont attendu : des femmes noires laiss\u00e9es seules pendant que leurs maris \u00e9taient en exil, en prison ou partis travailler loin de chez elles. <em>\u00ab\u00a0Winnie partage ce destin avec tant d\u2019autres. Nous voulions l\u2019humaniser, la montrer dans toute sa complexit\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, explique Momo Matsunyane, la metteuse en sc\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<p>La pi\u00e8ce alterne entre les moments forts de sa vie \u2013 son bannissement \u00e0 Brandfort, son divorce public avec Nelson Mandela, son audition devant la Commission V\u00e9rit\u00e9 et R\u00e9conciliation \u2013 et des r\u00e9cits de femmes ordinaires ayant v\u00e9cu l\u2019attente et, parfois, l\u2019abandon. <em>\u00ab\u00a0Mandela est c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 comme un h\u00e9ros, mais cette pi\u00e8ce interroge son absence et ses cons\u00e9quences sur sa famille\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, souligne Matsunyane.<\/p>\n<p>Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, disparue en 2018, continue de diviser l\u2019opinion. Pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e un temps comme la \u00ab\u00a0m\u00e8re de la nation\u00a0\u00bb, elle a aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 accus\u00e9e de violences, ce qui a terni son image apr\u00e8s l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de la d\u00e9mocratie. \u00ab\u00a0Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 vilipend\u00e9e alors qu\u2019elle incarnait la lutte.
